Your first visit, made simple.
A five-step overview of becoming a patient at Oasis of Hope, how to book, what we need from you, what happens during the evaluation, and the care that follows.
Insurance plans we accept

Five steps from your first call to ongoing care.
No bouncing between clinicians, no insurance surprises. A clear path from the moment you reach out.
Call or send a message
The fastest path is a phone call. Most new patients are seen within the week, share your insurance details and a brief note about what brings you in, and we will offer a time that fits.
Contact us →We verify your insurance
Before your first visit, we check your benefits and explain what your plan covers. We accept 13 plans, including Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare, and Priority Partners.
Insurance we accept →Prepare what to bring
Your insurance card and a photo ID, a list of any medications and doses you currently take, and any prior records or test results if you have them. If a loved one helps you keep track of your history, you are welcome to bring them.
Patient forms →Your first visit (the evaluation)
Plan for 60 to 90 minutes. We take a full history, talk through what brought you in, and where they add clarity we use validated screening tools rather than a quick checklist. You leave with an initial diagnosis where one is warranted and a plan you understand and agree with.
Step-by-step walkthrough →Your ongoing plan
Care continues in one of a few directions, medication management, psychotherapy, or both. Follow-ups are scheduled at intervals that fit your situation, in person in Waldorf or by secure telepsychiatry anywhere in Maryland.
About medication management →
Before your appointment.
- Insurance card and a photo ID
- A list of medications and doses you currently take
- Prior records or test results, if you have them
- A loved one, if it helps you keep track of your history
- Notes on what brought you in, what changed, and when
Joining by telepsychiatry?
Telepsychiatry visits are the same depth as an in-person visit, just from wherever you are in Maryland. You will need:
- • A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera
- • A stable internet connection
- • A quiet, private space where you can speak freely
- • A modern browser, no app to install
Evening telehealth slots run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm daily.
More on telepsychiatry →What you can count on from here.
The hard part is the first call. After that, the path is clear, and you are not navigating it alone.
Follow-ups at your pace
Visits are spaced to your situation, not a billing template. Most new patients see their clinician every 2 to 6 weeks early on, then less often as things settle.
Care that travels with you
In person in Waldorf or by secure telepsychiatry anywhere in Maryland, including evenings, 6:00 to 10:00 pm. If life changes, your care does not have to restart.
One team behind your plan
Your medication clinician and your therapist work from the same plan, no bouncing between providers who do not talk to each other.
Your first step is a single phone call.
Book a consultation online or call us directly. We answer Monday through Saturday, 8:30am–6pm.
