Mobile Treatment Services: Mental Healthcare That Comes to You

Some patients cannot get to a clinic and cannot use telehealth either. Mobile Treatment Services brings care to them, in their own home or another safe place, so distance and circumstance are not the reason care does not happen.

Overview

Mobile Treatment Services (MTS) is an outreach program from Oasis of Hope that extends mental healthcare to people who cannot access it any other way. It is built for patients without reliable transportation to our Waldorf, MD office, and for those who cannot use telepsychiatry because they do not have the electronic devices that medium requires.

Our clinician provides treatment in your natural environment, your home, or another safe place such as a shelter. Care is patient-centered and delivered with compassion regardless of race, economic status, or place of residence. The point is plain: where you live should not decide whether you can get psychiatric care.

MTS addresses a real gap in Southern Maryland, where transportation and device access are genuine barriers to care. Eligibility is determined during your initial evaluation, and availability is geographically limited, so the first step is to call and ask whether your address is within range.

How it works

What to expect.

  1. Call to check range

Because a clinician travels to each visit, availability is geographically limited. The first step is to call 301-710-4218 so we can confirm whether your address is within range before you plan around it.

  2. Initial evaluation

Eligibility for Mobile Treatment Services is determined during your initial evaluation. We build the clinical picture and confirm that transportation or device barriers, not preference, are what make a clinic visit or telepsychiatry unworkable for you.

  3. Care at home

Treatment comes to you, in your own environment, most often your home, and in some cases another safe place such as a shelter. A home visit runs 45 to 60 minutes and carries the same clinical depth as an office appointment.

  4. Ongoing visits

Care continues on a schedule that fits your circumstances. The clinician keeps coming to you and adjusts your treatment plan over time, so the absence of a car, a device, or a stable address never becomes the reason care stops.

Mobile Treatment Services, telepsychiatry, or in-office: which fits you

Oasis of Hope offers psychiatric care three ways, and the right one depends on what you can reach. In-office care is the standard option: you come to our Waldorf, MD office and meet your clinician in person. Telepsychiatry is for patients who would rather not travel or cannot, joining a secure video visit from anywhere in Maryland using a phone, tablet, or computer, with the same depth as an office visit.

Mobile Treatment Services sits behind both. It is for the narrower group who cannot get to the Waldorf office and cannot use telepsychiatry either, most often because they have no reliable transportation and no electronic device for video care. For these patients, a clinician travels to them and provides treatment in their own environment.

A simple way to self-route: if you can travel, choose in-office. If you cannot travel but have a device and connection, choose telepsychiatry. If neither is workable, ask about Mobile Treatment Services. Eligibility is confirmed during your initial evaluation, and because a clinician travels to each visit, availability is geographically limited. Call 301-710-4218 to check whether your address is within range.

Where care is provided

Visits take place in your natural environment, most often your home, and in some cases another safe place such as a shelter. The clinician brings the visit to you so that the absence of a car, a device, or a stable address is not what keeps you from care.

Availability is geographically limited because a clinician travels to each visit. We confirm whether your address is within range during the initial evaluation, so call before you plan around it.

Check your range

Start with a phone call

Mobile Treatment Services is available in a limited area around our Waldorf, MD office, because a clinician travels to each visit. Before you plan around it, call and we will confirm whether your address is within range.

  • Call 301-710-4218 to check coverage for your address
  • Eligibility is confirmed during your initial evaluation
  • Visits happen at home, or another safe place such as a shelter

Care that travels

Where you live should not decide whether you get care

Some patients cannot get to a clinic and cannot use telehealth either, and for them that has too often meant going without. Mobile Treatment Services exists so that the absence of a car, a device, or a stable address is not what keeps someone from psychiatric care.

Care is patient-centered and delivered with compassion regardless of race, economic status, or place of residence. The clinician brings the visit to you, in your own environment, and meets you where you are.
